CHARACTER IN LEAD™ - Aalok Rathod
Enter Aalok Rathod. Scene 1
Our featured “Character in LEAD” is Aalok Rathod. The prominent character trait we are featuring him for is: COURAGE. Courage comes from the heart.
Courage to keep creating at his pace. Courage to speak up. Courage to endeavor support of communities. Courage to stop pleasing and start being. Courage to speak out. Courage to believe in himself over others’ opinion. Courage to shine his LIGHT onto others. Courage to be an Entrepreneur.
Aalok’s entrepreneurial journey is a split between finance and creativity.
His Finance endeavor comes from an educational background. His education base is in the financial world. He started his own company and as most finance deals he has terms and conditions which come along. It is worthwhile mentioning the most rewarding part of the deal for him. It happens after all the contracts have been signed, and all the in-between workings have been finalized. It is the inspirational outcome he sees in changing the life courses of others, and inspiring others, growing communities. Ironically for a finance company, the reward is in all the non-financial end results. He sees his contributions as a ray of hope and positivity to ensure that people and communities end up feeling empowered to grow and evolve.
“It feels great to see that I played a part in giving someone a better standard of living and am a participant in India’s growth story.” - - Aalok Rathod.
The creativity split is also an exciting one. Aalok is a filmmaker, a director, an actor. His work involves non-stop creativity. His focus remains on keeping the element of diversity in his films by having different cultures promoted and celebrated. He does this by keeping focus on the elements of Love and Acceptance.
“I believe that I’m bringing the world closer, one film at a time” - - Aalok Rathod.
Aalok’s personal interests are dancing, cooking, traveling and reading. Even when he’s doing his hobbies he is creating his own thing. One day he’s experimenting with Indian – Italian Fusion cuisine. Another day, he’s introspecting, reading, and enjoying non-fiction books.
As Aalok’s personal journey continues, he is focused on avoiding any negativity. As life throws its ups and downs, he tries his hardest to seek the possibilities in all situations rather than complain about the existing circumstances. In alignment with Karaka’s “Stay True to Character™” slogan, Aalok overcame a lot of challenges and learnt life’s lessons by living in the present. He discourages people to overvalue the past and to be fearful of the future. It really becomes an inhibiting factor to “not let go” at some point. His desire to live in the present also nurtures his personal value of connecting and appreciating others.
Enter Uncia Productions. Scene 2
Aalok’s company is Uncia Productions, it is a New York Based Film production company. In choosing both the company name and logo, Aalok has chosen simplicity and purity as the impressionable factor. Uncia has a lot of meanings but the most common is “the twelfth part”. The idea is that short films are usually 1/12 in duration of a typical, full-length feature film. Both in production and delivery of his company’s work, Aalok’s focus remains on quality and ensuring that all the efforts into making the final product deliver on its message with clarity.
Challenges for his company so far have been established from the moment he started working on his latest production “The Doorbell”. Aalok brought together a crew from different countries and produced, directed, acted in the film. The reward was finishing on time and on budget, and achieving an amazing product.
His inspiration on the professional level comes from his audience. All the feedback he receives, is taken constructively. This is “a must” for him, in order to grow as a filmmaker and deliver his projects on a positive trajectory. Uncia’s inspiration comes from his grandfather, who laid the initial seeds of an entrepreneurial mindset in him. His grandfather, a self-made entrepreneur in his own right, would ask him to count bills and would advise him on business decision making processes during his adolescent years. The process included discussing visions, values and ideas.
Uncia Productions currently produces short films, podcasts and documentaries. Future developments for the company will include animation and e-books. In addition to that, a focus on storytelling in collaboration with individuals and brands.
Aalok’s achievements include him as producer on the set of Joyce, which is now an award winning movie. Joyce won Best Narrative award at the New York Film Awards and won Best Film, at the Gold Movie Awards in London.
Enter LIGHTS and COURAGE. Scene 3
Aalok’s choices allow him to attain balance integration in his life. This is done through a sense of work achievements and personal connections. He follows his instincts in both his personal and business relationships and dealings. His best accomplishments so far in life (we’re pretty sure there’s a lot more to come) have come through by being true to himself, and his inner LIGHT guiding him.
Part of Aalok’s inner LIGHT is his deep sense of connecting with people. Aalok’s current disposition of filmmaking and directing makes him meet and work with various individuals at the same time. He truly understands the purpose and necessity of humans to see beyond race, creed, nationality, religion and sexual orientation and believes that the shift in accepting all of us “as is” is what drops the fundamental societal judgements and expectations.
In conclusion, courage comes from the heart. So does from one’s inner LIGHT. The reason we’ve omitted the LIGHTS from the CAMERA, ACTION piece in our writing, is because we believe when Aalok is present on his set, with his friends and in social settings, there’s always LIGHT.
As Aalok continues to pursue his dreams, he touches the hearts and journeys of so many with his COURAGE and inner LIGHT. Translated from Hindi to English, his name means “Divine light of GOD”.
He IS Aalok. There’s always LIGHT when he’s around.
